Tonight I play a concert with a mixture of styles: German and French baroque music, a tango, music with a kind of a Beethoven touch together with Sturm und Drang music. It all suits the beautiful organ.
20 hrs, OLV Basiliek Maastricht.
After a beautiful concert last week together with one of my students in Eckelrade, Friday 13 July I’ll play on the one-manual organ built by Pieter Assendelft in 1748, located nowadays in the Christus Hemelvaartkerk, Sittard. Both organs in Eckelrade and Sittard are the same for their one manual setup and their limited amount of stops, but completely different for their sounding results. The former southern orientated, with strong reeds; the latter more distinguished with a tendency to the Dutch school. The concert starts at 20 hrs.
22 June I’ll play in the Grote Kerk in Harlingen. I’m very pleased to have the opportunity to play on the recently restored Hinsz organ, built in 1776.
I’ll perform music mainly from the 18th century, together with a funny Tango by Guy Bovet.
Time: 20 hrs.
Today I’ll play in the beautiful Basilica in Tongeren, Belgium. The concert will start at 16.00 hrs. I’ll play on the new organ manufactured by Thomas in 2014.
After a magnificent performance last Thursday of the Mass for two organs by Louis Vierne with the Cappella Sancti Servatii , Arno Kerkhof at the second organ (Harmonium) and conductor Hans Heykers, , tonight we’ll perform works by the great J.S. Bach in cooperation with Studium Chorale, conducted by Hans Leenders.
Location: Onze Lieve Vrouwe Basiliek , Maastricht, 19.30 hrs.
20 May at 15.30 Marcel Verheggen will perform a concert in the Sint-Servaasbasiliek which will be related to Whitsunday.
It is an interesting program with the rarely performed ‘Triple Choral’ by Charles Tournemire, a meditation by Max Reger upon the Whitsunday song ‘Komm, Heiliger Geist, Herre Gott’, and the complete ‘Messe de la Pentecôte’ by Olivier Messiaen.
Tickets are available at the ticket office of the ‘Theater aan het Vrijthof’
